Although born in the United States, Akeema's parents hail from the beautiful island of Trinidad & Tobago and they raised Akeema and her sister, Tesa, heavily in the culture.  As a result, Akeema has annually participated as a masquerader in Trinidad carnival since she was 3 years old.  

 

With a keen eye for fashion, Akeema learned from the best.  Her Mother is a former Interior Designer who is a fashionista in her own right, and her Father was well known for consistently wearing Italian cut suits and clothing crafted from foreign designers all over the world.  

 

Akeema's inspiration for carnival designing developed after having the pleasure of meeting the talented, world-wide Mas Designer, Natalie Fonrose (Fonrose the Brand). Initially, Akeema was her client; however, after completing Natalie's personalized designing course, CarniCademy, Akeema knew this was a passion that she had to tap into!

 

Akeema, the proud owner of 2 businesses, is now designing wirebras, tiaras and fashion swimwear for her clients across the globe.  The mantra she lives by: "She believed she could, so she did!"
